Your puppy is growing and learning every day. They're curious about the world, increasingly confident and probably finding new and inventive ways to keep you on your toes!
You've started teaching those important everyday skills, but puppy training doesn't have to be all sits, stays and recalls.
Your puppy needs opportunities to think, move, explore and learn with you too.
And finding activities that are fun, mentally stimulating and appropriate for a growing puppy isn't always quite as easy as it sounds.
That's where Hoops & Pups comes in
Hoops & Pups is my puppy-friendly introduction to Canine Hoopers, specially designed for puppies from 5 months old.
Through fun, carefully structured exercises, your puppy will begin learning how to navigate hoops, tunnels and other Hoopers equipment while developing confidence, focus, body awareness, coordination and their ability to work with you.
Because we're working with growing puppies, we don't spend the lesson endlessly repeating the same movements. Exercises are adapted to the individual puppy and we build skills progressively, keeping training fun and appropriate for their stage of development.
And while your puppy thinks they're playing a brilliant new game, you'll be building something much bigger:
communication, connection and a puppy who loves learning with you.

Hoopers gives your puppy a reason to keep checking in and working with you, even when there are other puppies, people and exciting things happening around them.
Your puppy will learn to explore new equipment, try different challenges and solve simple problems at their own pace — helping them become a more confident and optimistic learner.
Carefully chosen Hoopers exercises help your puppy become more aware of how they move and use their body, building coordination without repetitive or high-impact exercises.
You'll learn how to use your movement, cues and rewards more effectively, while your puppy learns to understand and respond to the information you're giving them.
Using food, toys and play, we'll make learning rewarding and exciting — so working with you becomes something your puppy actively wants to do.
Your puppy will gradually learn the skills they'll need to negotiate hoops, tunnels and other Hoopers equipment, preparing them to progress into Beginners Hoopers as they mature.
8 weeks of progressive training
Each week builds on the skills you've already learned, gradually introducing your puppy to Hoopers equipment and developing their understanding at a pace that's right for them.

Plenty of individual attention, space to work and time for each puppy to learn without being overwhelmed.
One-hour weekly sessions
Enough time for learning, practice and breaks, with varied exercises rather than repetitive drilling.

A pathway into Beginners Hoopers
Once your puppy completes Hoops & Pups, you'll have the foundations you need to continue your Hoopers journey in Beginners.

Working at a Distance
Gradually build your puppy's confidence to work away from you while still responding to your cues.
Handler Movement & Communication
Learn how your position and movement influence your puppy around a Hoopers course.
Building Sequences
Progress from individual pieces of equipment to putting several elements together into short, flowing sequences.
Using Play as a Reward
Discover how toys and play can make training more rewarding and engaging.
Understanding Pace
Learn how your handling can influence your puppy's pace so they're learning to negotiate the course rather than simply racing through it.
These aren't just Hoopers skills.
The focus, communication, confidence and ability to respond to you at a distance that you develop through Hoops & Pups can support your everyday training too.
Most importantly, you'll be learning together — giving your puppy an enjoyable way to use their brain, develop new skills and discover just how much fun training with you can be.
If you and your puppy catch the Hoopers bug, there's plenty more to discover.
After Hoops & Pups, you can progress into my ongoing Hoopers classes, continuing to develop your handling skills and your dog's confidence, independence and understanding as you work through increasingly challenging exercises.
And you don't need to compete to have something to work towards.
With 19 Hoopers Progression Award levels to work through, you and your dog can continue setting new goals and developing your skills, earning rosettes and certificates to celebrate your achievements along the way.
Whether you simply want a fun activity to enjoy together or you discover that Hoopers becomes your thing, there's always another skill to learn and another challenge waiting for you.

Not sure whether Hoops & Pups is right for your puppy? Get in touch and I'll be happy to help you decide before you book.
Hoops & Pups has been specifically developed for puppies from 5 months old.
All the exercises are age-appropriate and designed to help develop body awareness, coordination and confidence without asking growing puppies to perform repetitive or inappropriate movements.
Hoopers equipment is introduced gradually and in a logical sequence, helping your puppy build confidence, understand the game and, most importantly, discover just how much fun Hoopers can be.
Your puppy should have a few basic skills, such as a sit and the beginnings of a reasonably reliable recall.
Don't worry if those skills aren't perfect, though — they're puppies! We also work on useful foundation skills throughout Hoops & Pups, including sit, down, wait, middle and recall.
No. While your puppy should have the beginnings of a recall, they don't need to be completely reliable off lead before joining Hoops & Pups.
We can use a 3-metre training lead while your puppy is learning, giving them the freedom they need to begin playing the Hoopers game while keeping everyone safe and comfortable.
As their understanding and confidence develop, we can progress at a pace that's appropriate for the individual puppy.
That's very normal — they're puppies, and the world is an exciting place!
When we introduce Hoopers, we spend plenty of time building value for the equipment and the game itself. As your puppy discovers how rewarding Hoopers can be, engaging with the course becomes something they actively want to do.
We also work on focus and engagement throughout the course, helping your puppy learn to work with you even when there are other interesting things happening around them.
Because Hoops & Pups is a small-group course with limited places, missed sessions are normally forfeited and I'm unable to offer refunds for classes you don't attend.
If you know you'll need to miss two or more sessions, for example because of a pre-booked holiday, please let me know as early as possible. Where circumstances and availability allow, I may be able to offer a catch-up session at my discretion, but this can't be guaranteed.
You don't need any specialist Hoopers equipment — I'll provide everything we need for the training itself.
For each class, please bring:
A fixed collar and detachable lead. A harness is optional, but you'll need one if your puppy is working on a training line.
Plenty of high-value treats. And when I say plenty, I mean more than you think you'll need! We'll be doing lots of rewarding throughout the session.
A training toy your puppy loves, such as a tuggy, chaser toy or ball on a rope.
A water bowl and plenty of fresh water for your puppy.
Hoops & Pups is just the beginning of your Hoopers journey.
Once you've completed the course, you can progress into Beginners Hoopers, where you'll continue developing your handling and Hoopers skills while working through the Canine Hoopers World Progression Awards.
You'll remain in Beginners while working towards Progression Award Level 4, before moving into Improvers, where you'll continue through Levels 5–10.
Once you reach Level 10, you'll be ready to move into Advanced Hoopers, where the challenge continues with Levels 11 onwards.
With 19 Progression Award levels currently available, there's plenty for you and your dog to work towards — even if you have absolutely no interest in competing. You'll have new skills and challenges to master along the way, with certificates and rosettes to celebrate your achievements.
Your puppy's Hoopers journey can start right here.
Join me for Hoops & Pups, and spend eight weeks helping your puppy build confidence, focus and new skills while discovering a fun activity you can enjoy together.
