In 1994, my fascination with canine behaviour ignited when I welcomed my Shetland Sheepdog, Dali, into the family. Tackling our challenges together sparked a lifelong passion for studying training methods, dog behaviour, and honing my craft. By 2004, I’d discovered the remarkable Belgian Shepherd, whose boundless energy and intelligence tested every aspect of my evolving training approach.

My introduction to Belgian Shepherds came in 2004 with Shadow, followed three years later by Luna. Competing in agility with both while focusing on breed showing led to Luna’s consecutive Best of Breed wins at Crufts in 2009 and 2010. I bred several litters from Luna, and two of her daughters—Seina and Cassie—remained with me at home. Competing in Rally Obedience with them provided invaluable insights into managing high-drive dogs, sharpening my belief that every dog’s unique challenges deserve an adaptable, empathetic approach.

Shaped by these experiences, I developed the Fun | Focus | Play® method: a fusion of reward-based, concept-driven training informed by the latest science and the pivotal role emotions play in behaviour. I share these insights in No Pulling Allowed, while Dogz Thinkz Differentz —created alongside my colleagues—uses humour to bust common dog-training myths. What sets me apart is not only years of experience, but also an ethos of choice and collaboration.
